Sculture nel tempo is a road movie that travels through time to explore the sculptures of Philip Van Isacker in public space. We experience stone, steel, copper and bronze as they are subjected to the elements and the changing seasons. The art documentary halts at works in situ and from his studio, Van Isacker reflects on the place of sculpture, the transience of art, and the role of doubt and unpredictability in our lives and society.

Sculture nel tempo is een roadmovie én tijdreis naar de beeldhouwwerken van Philip Van Isacker in de publieke ruimte. We zien steen, staal, koper en brons stil staan, doorheen de jaargetijden en onderhevig aan de elementen. De kunstdocumentaire houdt het niet enkel bij de werken in situ. Vanuit zijn atelier overpeinst Van Isacker de plaats van de beeldhouwkunst, de vergankelijkheid van kunst, en de rol van twijfel en onvoorspelbaarheid in ons leven en onze samenleving.

This documentary dwells on a visual practice that seems to be the antithesis of the prevailing visual regime with fast, immaterial, fleeting images. The makers have attempted to exploit the possibilities of the audiovisual medium to communicate content by working with three layers throughout the work: exposition, a poetic layer and an abstract layer. Besides researching the subject that is on the forefront, creating the documentary also meant looking for a possible form for artistic research, how to work and speak on the basis of images, without immediately relying on formats as a fallback.

De documentaire staat stil bij een beeldende praktijk die wel de antithese lijkt van het heersende beeldregime met snelle, immateriële, vluchtige beelden. De makers hebben gepoogd om de mogelijkheden uit te buiten van het audiovisuele medium om inhouden te communiceren, door te werken met drie lagen doorheen het werk: duiding, een poëtische laag en een abstracte laag. Behalve een onderzoek naar het onderwerp dat op het voorplan staat, betekende het maken van de docu ook het zoeken naar een mogelijke vorm voor onderzoek in de kunsten, hoe er aan de hand van beelden gewerkt en gesproken kan worden, zonder meteen op formats terug te vallen.
